Introduction: illiberal tendencies in law-making

The ongoing autocratisation processes in the last couple of years have led us to ask question how legislation is actually made a political and legal environment which illiberal populist governments govern systematically disregard Rule Law, democracy relativize human rights protection. Our goal was not investigate illiberalism as whole, but, instead, examine interrelationship between tendencies government law-making process. Do states show evidence particular type process? Or do certain types process make it easier government? This special issue collects most prominent examples from Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Brazil, Italy, Indonesia, even if difficult draw firm over-arching conclusions different surveyed this issue, possible tentatively identify some common themes. Firstly, reveal strong reliance on pure majoritarian principle, instrumental use legislation, increased accelerated legislative omnibus compromised procedural semi-procedural constitutional review legislation. Secondly, there reduction importance citizen Thirdly, projects are implement parliamentary system than presidential system. Fourthly, independence judiciary ruling party can be where or supreme courts “packed” by executive with judges who seen favour that party.
